The 2009-2010 catalog is printed in 4-color plus metallic gold on the interior pages with gold gilded edges that have a heat-sculpted design embossed. The cover is gold foil artboard printed with black ink and gloss laminated. The printed lines on the cover match up with the heat brandished lines on the three edges of the book block, making it into a surreal Escheresque conundrum. The catalog is protected by a clear plastic slipcase.
The 2013-2014 edition has white PVC base printed with black ink. It also features a 5” diameter custom molded dome. Special packing with spacers was required to keep the plastic dome from being crushed during shipping.
Abstract is the yearly publication of student work from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. The catalog is produced through the office of the Dean. The faculty selects the archive of student work to be featured at the end of each academic year.
